Housing Assistance
Georgia offers a variety of housing support programs and resources tailored to assist pregnant women, mothers, and families in need, ensuring they have access to safe and stable living environments during critical times.
State and Local Housing Programs
Atlanta Housing Authority (AHA): The AHA provides housing assistance through various programs, including public housing and housing vouchers, to low-income families in the Atlanta area. They oversee several communities and collaborate with private developers to offer mixed-income housing options. Apply
Maternity Supportive Housing Residences (MSHR): MSHRs are residential homes operated by nonprofit organizations. They can house up to six pregnant women aged 18 or older, along with their minor children, during pregnancy and up to 18 months postpartum. While these residences do not provide medical services, they offer housing and support, assisting with services like nutritional support, childcare, transportation, and vocational training through partnerships with local nonprofits or government agencies.
Emergency Shelters and Transitional Housing
HOPE Atlanta: Formerly known as Travellers Aid of Metropolitan Atlanta, HOPE Atlanta provides emergency shelter, transitional housing, and supportive services to individuals and families in crisis, including pregnant women and mothers. Their mission encompasses housing, outreach, prevention, and emergency services.
