About The Birth Buddy

A free directory of U.S. organizations offering pregnancy, birth and postpartum care at no cost or reduced cost.

Our story

Finding affordable care during pregnancy and the first year shouldn't take hours of searching. The Birth Buddy brings hospitals, birth centers, doulas, WIC and SNAP offices, milk banks, breastfeeding groups and mental health support into one place, county by county, alongside each state's maternal and child health department and a plain-language guide to every state.

Where our data comes from

The directory holds 14,452 local listings across all 50 states and DC. Researchers compiled each one from the organization's own published information: websites, service pages and official directories. Every listing records which part of our research it came from and, where we have it, the date it was last checked.

Map points are approximate. Most are placed at the center of the organization's ZIP code, not its street address. County borders come from U.S. Census cartographic boundaries.

Listings are informational and not medical advice. Details change, so always call before you go.

Correct a listing

Every listing has a "Tell us" link under Where this came from. Use it to report a wrong phone number, a closed office or anything else, and we'll recheck it.

Add an organization

Know an organization that offers free or reduced-cost care for pregnancy, birth or the first year? Tell us its name, where it is and its website, and we'll research it for the directory.

Privacy

There are no accounts. Your location and shortlist are stored only on your device, in your browser's storage, and you can clear them at any time. If you send us a correction or suggestion, we keep the message and, if you give it, your email address, only to follow up. Maps load tiles from OpenStreetMap, and fonts load from Google Fonts.
