Baby-Friendly Hospitals

Baby-Friendly Hospitals support moms and babies by making breastfeeding easier and encouraging bonding right from birth. These hospitals follow special guidelines to help moms start breastfeeding, provide lactation support, and promote skin-to-skin contact to give babies the best start in life.

Hospitals earn this designation through the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) by meeting standards set by the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. In Michigan, several hospitals have achieved Baby-Friendly designation, reflecting their commitment to optimal infant feeding practices and maternal support, they include:

  • Ascension St. John Hospital
  • Corewell Health Greenville Hospital
  • Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe
