Vaccinations

Vaccinations for Pregnant Women
Vaccines during pregnancy protect both the mother and the baby by passing immunity to the infant. The recommended vaccines include:

  • Influenza (Flu) Vaccine: Pregnant women are advised to receive the flu vaccine during any trimester of pregnancy to protect both themselves and their babies from influenza-related complications.
  • Tdap Vaccine (Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis): It is recommended that pregnant women receive the Tdap vaccine during each pregnancy, preferably between 27 and 36 weeks gestation, to protect newborns from whooping cough.
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Pregnant women are encouraged to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to reduce the risk of severe illness. Recent studies have confirmed the safety of COVID-19 vaccines during early pregnancy, showing no increased risk of major birth defects.
  • RSV Vaccine (Respiratory Syncytial Virus): The CDC recommends that pregnant women receive the RSV vaccine to protect their infants from severe RSV illness during the early months of life.

Vaccinations for Children

Idaho follows the CDC's immunization schedule for children, which includes vaccines to protect against various diseases. Key vaccinations include: Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis (DTaP), Polio (IPV), Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR), Varicella (Chickenpox), Hepatitis B, Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib), Pneumococcal Conjugate (PCV13), Rotavirus, Hepatitis A, Meningococcal ACWY (MenACWY) and Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
