Place infants on their backs for every sleep: Babies should always sleep on their backs, even during naps.
Use a firm sleep surface: Ensure the baby sleeps on a firm mattress in a safety-approved crib, bassinet, or play yard covered with a fitted sheet.
Keep the sleep area clutter-free: The crib should be free from soft bedding, pillows, toys, and bumper pads to prevent suffocation risks.
Room-sharing without bed-sharing: It's advisable to place the baby's crib or bassinet in the parents' bedroom, but avoid sharing the same sleeping surface.
