Safe Sleep & Cribs

In Arizona, several guidelines and resources are available to assist parents and caregivers in creating such environments.

Safe Sleep Guidelines

The Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) emphasizes the "ABC's of Safe Sleep"

Alone: Place the baby to sleep alone, without bed-sharing.
Back: Always lay the baby on their back for every sleep, including naps.
Crib: Use a safety-approved crib, bassinet, or playpen with a firm mattress and a fitted sheet.

To further enhance safety

Ensure the sleep area is free from pillows, blankets, bumpers, and toys.
Keep the baby's face uncovered during sleep.
Maintain a smoke-free environment around the baby.
These practices are detailed in ADHS's Safe Sleep for Your Baby brochure.

Crib Resources

For families in need of safe sleep spaces, several programs in Arizona offer assistance
