Milk banks
A milk bank collects breast milk from screened donors, pasteurizes it, and provides it to babies who need it — most often premature or sick babies in hospital. Many milk banks also have places where you can drop off donated milk.
Who it's for: Families whose baby needs donor milk, usually on a doctor's prescription, and people with extra milk who would like to donate.

Common questions
Is donor milk safe?
Milk from a nonprofit milk bank is screened and pasteurized. Milk shared informally online doesn't go through these checks.
Can I get donor milk if my baby is at home?
Sometimes. Priority usually goes to babies in hospital, but many milk banks also serve families at home.
How current is this information?
Each listing shows where its information came from and, where we have it, the date a researcher last checked it. Details change, so call before you go. If something looks wrong, use "Tell us" on the listing.
Why do I have to enter a ZIP code?
So we can show the organizations in your county rather than a list of everything everywhere. It also keeps listings from being harvested in bulk.
